Sampling Scents with a Cell Phone?

The concept may not be too far away, as one company has already found a way to use an iPhone as a fragrance bottle.

Sample packaging suppliers may not be happy about the idea, but fragrance marketers are no doubt looking forward to the day when they can “spritz” all their potential consumers through their cell phones. That day may not be too far off.

Samsung already has numerous patents on “scented cell phones,” one of which apparently has a refilling station built into its charging dock. Now, a Japanese company, Chaka Perfume, has created an iPhone accessory and app called “Chat Perf.” It allows you to spritz yourself, or tell another cell phone with the accessory to emit a puff of fragrance. The accessory is a small plastic tank with an atomizer, attached to the phone’s dock port. Perhaps cell phones will one day pose as a new type of portable fragrance package.
